Preparation and packing began weeks before the actual weekend. Decoration with appropriate Cougar gear was paramount.
Tammi and I hit the road around 8:15 on Friday Morning. The weather could not have been better. Blue skies and sunshine. We stopped at a little winery near Othello for a little tasting. I drove the first leg and Tammi drove the second one.
Ready to start loading up.
Tammi was a natural! This was her first time driving a motorhome! She enjoyed that but not the smell of the nearby cows!
I had expected that our RV parking lot would have lots of spaces left since it was Mom’s Weekend, and I did not think a lot of Moms would be driving RVs. Imagine my surprise when we arrived and saw this! Not only was our lot eventually overflowing, the Wal-mart lot was full of RVs!
Friday night we attended a BBQ dinner for the Animal Science folks. It was also an awards dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Caitlin was the recipient of two scholarships! It was well deserved recognition for all her hard work!
Saturday was filled with activity. For starters Tammi and I had a “makeover” at the Bookie, then met Caitlin for Brunch at the WSU Alumni Center.
Caitlin won the raffle for the basketball signed by the WSU women’s basketball team. Butch, the WSU mascot sat across the table from us and we had an opportunity to have our pictures taken with him. Zelda the guide dog in training puppy seems to say “do you really think you have me fooled here?!”
Then there was the tour of the Veterinary Hospital, two wine tastings, and a personal tour of the WSU dairy by Caitlin. She has a job there feeding calves and cows. I think she know every single one too! This was probably the highlight of the trip for me. We got to see a brand new calf that was just a few hours old. She was still wet and just wanted to sleep, even though Mamma cow kept trying to get her to stand
Caitlin, giving us the tour of the milking parlor.
Our final event for the day was the Cheryl Crow concert, which we really enjoyed. Our seats were about as high up in the nosebleed section as they could get!
Linda Skorupa joined us in the motorhome for the night, and on Sunday morning we met her and her husband Chuck with their Granddaughter Melissa Skorupa for breakfast.
After fueling up the RV we were off for home
None of the predicted snow happened, and the trip home was safe and uneventful!
It was a fun adventure for all. Kati and I spent Saturday doing some exploring and found a couple of new camping spots. The weather was a bit breezy and cold, but great driving both ways. We stopped a Pampa Ponds and Kati ran and ran. I am glad you got your blog up and running.
